So, the decision was made! Your company needs a new CMM and you
have to select one.

There is plenty of information out there but most of it is somehow linked
to an OEM. That may not be obvious enough since it’s sometimes being
found on reseller’s websites or publications.

CMM Xperts are completely independent from all CMM OEM’s and provide
our clients consultancy service ensuring that you source the right CMM
solution for your inspection needs. Purchasing a CMM is complicated with
many aspects to be carefully considered including CMM size, Accuracy,
Planned Location and Thermal Effects, Software Capabilities, Probing System,
Training, and numerous other important considerations.

We run everyday into customers trying to use the wrong CMM or configuration for their applications. CMM sales guys are heavily focused on the sale of a CMM and really not interested in your specific needs. Remember, their answer will be Yes to your every question!

We will look at your parts, your blue-prints, your CAD models and advise you accordingly on your CMM requirement and can even join you during CMM demonstrations ensuring the right questions are asked or can provide a comprehensive spread-sheet analysis for your completion based upon your needs.

Even though there are only 7 serious CMM manufacturers to consider, by the time CMM style (bridge, cantilever, horizontal etc), probing system (touch, scanning, index or fixed head), CMM controller, software functionality are all considered in the evaluation process, there are a huge number of options to be considered and all this becomes very confusing. Many CMM enhanced capabilities cannot be added in the future unless the CMM is configured initially for this future capability. For example your budget may not allow scanning the be purchased initially; if you do not get the scanning controller upfront the upgrade can cost almost as much as the complete CMM two years down the road. We know the pitfalls and all of the OEM tricks.

A lot of times customers end up buying what is best for the salesman to offer rather than the most suited CMM for their application needs….
